Privacy policy
This privacy statement sets out which personal data Rolde.nl processes, for what purposes, how long we keep it and what rights you have.
Who is the controller
Rolde.nl is a website run by Moi! Webservices, Stoklegging 7, 9451 KV Rolde, Chamber of Commerce no. 69401349. Please send any questions about your data to redactie@rolde.nl.
Visitor statistics
We keep our own statistics on how the website is used: which pages are read, which website or search engine visitors arrive from, and what kind of browser and device they use. For this the website sets three cookies of its own:
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| aika_stats | Keeps the pages of a single visit together. | Until you close your browser |
| aika_stats_pv | Links what you do on a page to that page view, and helps protect forms against spam. | Until you close your browser |
| aika_visitor | Recognises a return visit, without knowing who you are. | 6 months |
We do not store your IP address. We store only a code calculated with a secret key from the network a visit comes from, after first removing the last part of the address. Without that key, the code cannot be traced back to an address. The statistics stay with us and are not shared with anyone else. We do not use Google Analytics, advertising cookies or social media cookies.
The contact form
If you send us a message through the contact form, we store your name, your email address, your message, the page on which you filled in the form, your IP address and the type of browser. We use this to answer your message and to prevent abuse and spam. The message is forwarded to the editorial team, and you receive a confirmation by email. We keep messages for as long as is needed to deal with your tip or question.
Submitting an event
If you submit an event for the calendar, we store the details of the event, your name, your email address and your IP address. We use your name and email address only to contact you with a question about the event and to let you know that it is in the calendar; they do not themselves appear in the calendar. Your submission is deleted ninety days after the editorial team has decided on it. An event that is added to the calendar stays there.
News and emergency service call-outs
News articles may include people’s names where this matters to the news. This falls under the exemption for journalism in data protection law. If you are named in an article and object to this, email redactie@rolde.nl; we consider every request.
In the emergency service call-outs from the public P2000 paging network we leave out house numbers, and for ambulance call-outs we give only the village. Call-outs stay on the website for a week and are deleted after thirty days.
Maps
When a news article contains a map, your browser fetches the map directly from OpenStreetMap. OpenStreetMap then sees your IP address, as does every website you visit. What OpenStreetMap does with it is set out in the privacy policy of the OpenStreetMap Foundation.
What else we process
- Server logs: like every web server, the server records which addresses are requested, along with the IP address and the browser. We use these logs only to detect faults and abuse.
- Forms: on a page with a form, the website sets a temporary session cookie, which is needed to secure the form. It is removed when you close your browser.
- Text size: if you choose a larger text size, your own browser remembers that choice. That information does not reach us.
Our server fetches the weather forecast, the waste collection days and the emergency service call-outs from their sources itself. No visitor data is passed on in the process.
Where your data is kept
The website and the data are hosted on a TransIP server in Amsterdam. We do not sell data and do not share it with others, unless the law requires us to. We protect the website and the data with appropriate technical measures, such as an encrypted connection and access for the editorial team only.
Your rights
You can ask us which personal data we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. You can also object to the use of your data. Send your request to redactie@rolde.nl; we will reply within one month. If you disagree with how we handle your data, you can lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
Changes
If we change this statement, the new version will appear on this page, with the date on which it takes effect. This version applies from 16 October 2026. In the event of any difference between this translation and the Dutch version, the Dutch version prevails.
