A Glimpse into the Past
Since its founding in 2011, inspired by former director Henk Jongebloed and Joop Mulder of the Oerol festival, FestiValderAa has grown into a beloved event in Northern Netherlands. The first edition attracted 5,500 visitors and the festival remains a favorite among the locals.
What to Expect?
The central festival grounds offer a rich mix of music, theater, and art. There are special areas for children to explore. Besides the central grounds, there are various theater locations, local residents' living rooms, and theatrical bike tours.
The Beautiful Surroundings
The festival takes place in the Drentsche Aa National Park, an area full of sandy roads and bike paths that follow the stream. The natural beauty of this area provides a magical backdrop for the festival. Staatsbosbeheer, a partner in nature conservation, adds extra walking routes to the program, such as the Early Bird Walk and the Daydreamer Walk.
