About Rolde in 3D
Explore the village as an interactive digital model. Fly past the church and windmill, discover places and watch Rolde change with the time, weather and seasons.
Made for residents and visitors, to put Rolde on the map, quite literally.
What can you discover?
- Buildings with three-dimensional roof shapes, recognisable façades and shop fronts.
- Individually modelled landmarks, including the Jacobuskerk, windmill, dolmens and artworks. Some objects are based on 3D scans.
- Roads, water, greenery and real terrain heights, with trees and shrubs derived from elevation data.
- Places from Rolde.nl’s local and business guides, with photographs, information and links.
- Amenities such as AEDs and playgrounds, restaurants, shops and other places you can select in the legend.
- Homes for sale, with estate agents’ signs and links to the agents.
- Bus stops with upcoming departures and buses moving between stops based on expected passing times.
- Road works in and around Rolde, using public traffic information.
A village that changes with the time
- Sunlight and shadows follow the time of day. The Conditions setting can show current weather: clouds, rain, mist and, in suitable conditions, snow.
- The windmill follows the wind and turns at suitable wind speeds. This is a weather-based animation, not an indication that the real mill is operating.
- The weekly market appears on Fridays and the fish stall on Wednesdays, according to their configured hours.
- The appropriate waste bins appear beside the road on collection days.
- Trees and landscape change with the seasons. Windows and shop fronts light up after dark.
- Animated cars bring the model to life. They are illustrative, not tracked vehicles.
Find your way around
Rotate the map, zoom in and select the categories you want to see. Use Places to search a list. Trees, shadows, street furniture and terrain heights can be switched on or off.
Each place has a link you can share. On a supported device, the location button can show your position with your permission; your location stays on your device. Choose an available language or add the map to your phone’s home screen if your browser supports it.
The same map appears on place and news pages. An article may show a time and weather setting chosen by the editors.

Seasonal colours, illuminated windows and snow cover are visual interpretations. Tree shapes and species are approximations based on elevation data.
